Abstract ; Konsep tentang komunikasi tidak hanya berkaitan dengan masalah cara berbicara efektif saja melainkan juga etika bicara. Semenjak memasuki era reformasi, masyarakat Indonesia berada dalam suasana euforia, bebas bicara tentang apa saja, terhadap siapapun, dengan cara bagaimanapun. Al-Qur'an menyebut komunikasi sebagai salah satu fitrah manusia. Untuk mengetahui bagaimana manusia seharusya berkomunikasi. Al-Qur'an memberikan kata kunci keyconcept yag berhubungan dengan hal itu. Al-Syaukani, misalnya mengartikan kata kunci al-bayan sebagai kemampuan berkomunikasi. Selain itu, kata kunci yang dipergunakan Al-Qur'an untuk komunikasi ialah al-qaul. Demokrasi yang melegitimasi terdapatnya keragaman pluralitas tentu harus dipraktikkan ke ranah politik dan kekuasaan. Untuk itu dibutuhkan alat untuk mengantarkan terjadinya proses tawar dan konsensus di antara komponen sosial politik yang ada. Instrumen tersebut adalah komunikasi politik. Etika politik diperlukan secara kontinu dalam proses komunikasi politik di tengah transisi demokrasi saat ini di mana etika politik mengarahkan ke hidup baik bersama dan untuk orang lain dalam kerangka memperluas lingkup kebebasan dan menciptakan institusi-institusi yang lebih adil. Barangkali bisa dipahami dengan komunikasi politik yang beretika maka nilai-nilai demokrasi tetap dikedepankan serta mereka akan menjaga komitmen untuk mengutamakan kepentingan publik.
